01How does umbrella payroll work in Ireland?

02What is an RPN and how does Nxsys use it?
A Revenue Payroll Notification (RPN) tells the employer each employee's tax credits, rate band, USC rate and any Local Property Tax to deduct. Nxsys gets the RPN from Revenue before the pay run, so tax and USC are right from the first payslip. If Revenue has not issued an RPN yet, Nxsys shows it as awaiting Revenue and picks it up once it is issued.
03Does Nxsys report umbrella payroll to Revenue?
Yes. Nxsys reports PAYE, PRSI and USC to Revenue on or before each payment date through payroll submissions, and checks PPS numbers before anyone is paid.
04How are PRSI and USC handled for umbrella employees?
Contractors employed by an Irish umbrella company are employees, so employee PRSI and USC are deducted from each payment, and employer PRSI is part of the cost of the pay run. Nxsys shows tax, PRSI and USC separately on every payslip in the app.
05Do agency workers in Ireland get equal treatment from day one?
Yes. Under the Protection of Employees (Temporary Agency Work) Act 2012, agency workers are entitled to the same basic working and employment conditions, including pay, as if the hirer had employed them directly, from the first day of the assignment. There is no 12-week qualifying period.
